A Pillar of our Society: Education Awards Night

Pamela Wright, President General

What a wonderful time we had at Opening Night last night!  I loved seeing all of you fill the seats of Constitution Hall! A special thank you to our honorees. Hearing about their dedication to history, genealogy, art and education was inspiring.

Historic Preservation, Education, and Patriotism. The three pillars of our society that shape all that we do at national and local levels of our wonderful Society. Tonight’s Education Awards Night is one of the most inspiring at our yearly meeting! We will honor accomplished young Essay Contest honorees as well as recognize the Outstanding Teacher of American History and the DAR Good Citizen. After we honor the awardees, the All-American DAR Chorus will entertain us with a musical performance. The ceremony will conclude with presentations of the finalists for the Outstanding Junior Member contest.

Our schedule today is packed with events for members with all interests, including the Units Overseas Luncheon and Bazaar, the Historic Preservation Luncheon, the Treasurer General’s Forum and the Junior Membership Forum.

This morning started off with our first business session of the 133rd Continental Congress where we will hear the reports of your Executive Officers. Tune into the livestream of the Education Awards Night ceremony on the Congress Website this evening, and read today’s Congress Herald. Also, follow along with Continental Congress social media via Facebook and Instagram.
