Ready to Sparkle? It’s Opening Night!

Pamela Wright, President General

The Opening Night ceremony of the 133rd Continental Congress is just a few hours away! Welcome, welcome, to one and all!

Tonight, we will honor the educational contributions of Bernice Steinhardt of Art & Remembrance and the preservation work of Antiques Roadshows’ Steven Porterfield. A special treat will be hearing about the 1824 Farewell Tour from the Marquis de Lafayette himself!

Some of the stellar events on the schedule today include the Chaplain and Historian General’s Forum, Registrar Generals Forum, Kansas Chapel Open House, Celebrating Membership Forum, and the 75th Anniversary of the Library Celebration! The President General’s reception room will also be open for viewing.

I look forward to attending the dedication of President General Grace Brosseau’s portrait, sharing a meal with those attending the Patriotism Luncheon, and celebrating the 75th Anniversary of the DAR Library! What a momentous occasion to honor as Memorial Continental Hall goes through its meaningful restoration.

If you cannot celebrate this evening with us in Washington, D.C., please participate in Congress virtually: view the livestream of the evening ceremonies, read the daily Congress Herald and follow along with Continental Congress social media via Facebook and Instagram.

Looking forward to seeing you all sparkle at tonight’s ceremony!
