History in Action at Education Awards Night

Ginnie Sebastian Storage, President General
135th Continental Congress Opening Ceremony

What a superb Opening Night we had last evening! And what a way to begin—seeing Lincoln, the majestic Bald Eagle from the American Eagle Foundation, soar through our beloved DAR Constitution Hall during the powerful and moving performance of the National Anthem from Liberty Voices, was a breathtaking moment and a fitting symbol as we open our 135th Continental Congress on the eve of our nation’s 250th anniversary. I hope you all enjoyed the inspiring words of our awardees and feel immense pride in the work we have done to commemorate America 250! Whether you were able to join us in person or watched the ceremony via livestream, your presence was felt as we officially launched the 135th Continental Congress. Let us take this inspiring energy into our morning business session, where attendees will hear reports from our Executive Officers.

I hope you all enjoyed the inspiring words of our awardees and feel immense pride in the work we have done to commemorate America 250!

After this morning’s Business Session, the afternoon is filled with meaningful events like the Units Overseas Luncheon and Bazaar, the Education Forum, and the Historic Preservation Luncheon, where we will hear from one of last night’s awardees, Dave Muraca from George Washington’s Ferry Farm. I know there is something for every Daughter on the schedule today!

In the Constitution Hall Lobby, you will find the Insignia Store, the Junior Shoppe, the President General’s Project Sales, and the DAR Museum Shop.

To commemorate this very special Congress, don’t forget to grab a souvenir! The DAR Store is open every day of Congress and is located on the Lower Level of the Administration Building. In the Constitution Hall Lobby, you will find the Insignia Store, the Junior Shoppe, the President General’s Project Sales, and the DAR Museum Shop. In the Texas Lone Star Lounge, you will find the Congress Shops with a wide array of specialty vendors. You can even shop in the lobby of the JW Mariott, where the President General’s Project Sales has a truly lovely display.

This evening, we will be celebrating the future of America by honoring accomplished young Essay Contest winners, as well as the Outstanding Teacher of American History, and the 2026 DAR Good Citizen. The DAR All American Chorus will entertain us tonight, before we meet the stellar finalists of our 2026 Outstanding Junior contest!

Like last night, the livestream of the Education Awards Night ceremony can be found on the Congress Website this evening.  More details and information can be found in the daily Congress Herald along with the official Continental Congress Facebook and Instagram.
