It’s a Great Day to Be at Congress!

Revolution in Their Words and Preserving Patriotism: The Declaration of Independence and Its Legacy at DAR

What an outstanding first day! Based on all the events on the agenda today, I think it is safe to say that the 135th Continental Congress is certainly underway.

Today at Headquarters, be sure to stop by the DAR Museum Gallery and see Revolution in Their Words and Preserving Patriotism: The Declaration of Independence and Its Legacy at DAR, two special exhibitions bringing America’s founding voices into focus by examining the nation’s founding through the firsthand accounts of those who lived it. Additionally, on display are the signatures of all 56 signers of the Declaration of Independence. Never before exhibited in their entirety, these signatures are among the most prized documents in the Americana Collection of the National Society.

Today I will be participating in our annual Flag Raising Ceremony this afternoon at National Headquarters

Today I will be participating in our annual Flag Raising Ceremony this afternoon at National Headquarters and this evening I will join the Celebration of DAR Philanthropy dinner and the Illinois Supper and will finish the day with the C.A.R. Ice Cream Social to cool down after a hot day. These events and many more on the schedule, are prime opportunities to connect with fellow Daughters from across the country and globe! The full event list can be found on the Congress Schedule or the Congress App.

As this week gets underway, I encourage all of you to take in each meeting, interaction, and event with enthusiasm. It is these connections that make our National Society strong and, I am sure I am not alone in that I look forward to Congress week each year!
