Why I Donated to DAR's CFC Right Away (and How ALL Daughters Can Support the Campaign)

Lisa Berta,Toll Gate Creek Chapter of Aurora, Colorado, The First Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) Donor to DAR

As Development Committee National Chair Donna Weaver recently shared, Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) is now an official charity partner of the Combined Federal Campaign (CFC), the federal government’s workplace giving program.

This partnership is such an amazing opportunity for DAR! The CFC is one of the largest and most successful workplace charity campaigns in the world. It connects federal employees and retirees with the charitable causes they care about most, providing more than $70 million to approved charities in 2023 alone.

Because I am a federal employee, and DAR is the cause I care about most, the moment the campaign launched, I made my donation. Why was I so eager? First, I want DAR to have a quick start right out of the gate. Second, this is a new and free source of funding for DAR and (bonus!) all CFC funds are unrestricted, meaning DAR can dedicate CFC dollars raised to the areas of greatest need.

If you’re a federal employee, retiree, servicemember or Veteran, will you please join me in supporting DAR? It is easy to donate. Just follow these four steps:

  1. Click here to donate (www.cfcgiving.opm.gov).
  2. Sign in to your Login.gov account.
  3. Complete or update your profile.
  4. Search for DAR and donate. (DAR’s CFC number is 15918.)

(If you have any questions about how to make a donation or the various ways to give, please visit the CFC website at www.givecfc.org.)

Engaging Others in Our DAR Philanthropy

In addition to making a donation, you can also serve as an advocate for DAR within your federal agency and persuade your coworkers that our National Society is a cause worth supporting. (I’ll be doing this within my agency.) You can promote DAR by engaging your colleagues informally or by clicking here (www.dar.org/cfc), where you can volunteer to represent DAR at upcoming CFC events. DAR will even send you materials to make it easy for you. Just reach out to the Office of Development by email [email protected] or by phone at (800) 449–1776

Even if you are not a federal employee, you can still play a critical role in supporting DAR’s CFC by helping to spread the word. Federal employees, retirees, servicemembers, Veterans, family members and friends can all help promote the campaign.

DAR is promoting its CFC partnership through various social media channels, such as Today’s DAR blogFacebook and Twitter/X. Be sure to follow these pages to receive the latest updates and share DAR’s social media posts through your personal and professional pages. Please start by sharing this post!

Thank you to all my fellow federal employees for considering DAR in your CFC giving and for your continued public service. And thank you to all Daughters who are willing to help spread the word about this important campaign to family members, friends and colleagues. DAR appreciates your support!
