Today's DAR
A busy Congress week is already underway! As more of you join us in D.C. today, I hope you all take time to peruse the Congress Schedule or the Congress App to find out where and when events are taking place.
As you will see in your Congress Program, we planned to honor genetic genealogist, CeCe Moore with the DAR Medal of Honor on Wednesday. Unfortunately, CeCe had a medical emergency, she is on the mend, but this prevents her from traveling to DC to be with us. She expressed her disappointment, but she has sent along a video greeting we will see during the Opening Night Ceremony. We send her our best wishes for a speedy recovery.
Don’t worry; we still have some exciting genealogical surprises for Congress! This Congress we will see the exciting return of Relatives at DAR, using the FamilySearch Family Tree app. Learn how you can see your new relatives at Congress here in the Member’s Announcement!
Some of the sparkling events scheduled for today include: The Junior Membership 5K, a DAR Library Orientation, a Flag Raising ceremony, and the DAR Genealogy Commission Forum! Use these events as a way to take the time to reconnect with old friends, build new bonds, and Rejoice in DAR ties of Service and Friendship!
This morning, we laid a wreath at the Second Infantry Division WWI Memorial to remember and honor these veterans. Later today, I will see you at the Gift Acceptance Ceremony hosted by the Office of Development to thank those who have donated physical objects to the Society!
Afterward, I will head to the J.W. Mariott to attend the National Vice Chairmen’s Annual meeting and end the evening with C.A.R. and their Sparkling Sundaes. What a sweet end to the day!
