Share Your Chapter’s Sparkle with Chapter Master Reports and Chapter Achievement Awards

Hellen Hicks Polk, National Chair, Master Reports Committee

January is here, and that can only mean one thing - it’s reporting season!

So, why do we report? It is through accurate reporting at the chapter level that individuals and chapters are recognized at state and national levels for awards and certificates. It is your chapter’s opportunity to be part of history. That’s right! When you enter statistical information like “How many cards were sent to active service members?” under DAR Project Patriot Committee or “Number of chapter members participating in a community clean-up” under the Conservation Committee, your numbers add to your state’s and the national statistical reports recorded in the Continental Congress Annual Proceedings and archived in the Smithsonian Institution!

The Chapter Master Report (CMR) highlights individual and chapter activities, service, and contributions within the National Society’s committee structure for the calendar year January 1, 2022, through December 31, 2022. This is your chapter’s opportunity to share what you have accomplished in the DAR mission areas over the last year! It is our responsibility as DAR members to assist chapter leaders in completing the CMR when asked, thus insuring accurate chapter recognition.

It is neither possible nor expected that chapters have answers for every CMR question or committee; rather, chapters build DAR Ties of Service and Friendship through areas that peak your membership’s interest while successfully enjoying those activities.

The Chapter Achievement Awards (CAA) recognizes chapter accomplishments for exceptional work as applicable to chapter management and support of the DAR mission of historic preservation, education, and patriotism. The CAA is accessed through the CMR. This year, we are excited to recognize outstanding chapters according to chapter size.

Remember - the national deadline for chapters to submit all master reports - the Chapter Master Report (CMR) and the Chapter Achievement Awards (CAA) - is midnight, Hawaii time, February 1, 2023. However, states may set an earlier deadline for their chapters.  Please check with your Master Reports state chair to confirm your state’s deadline. Completion of these reports in a timely manner will ensure that your members and chapters SPARKLE.

Additional Reminders:

  • Questions that require auto-filling by NSDAR will be populated as soon as possible. Even if you have marked your CMR complete, the auto-filled answers will appear prior to the national deadline.
  • Membership numbers for each chapter is based on the January 1, 2022, official membership count found in eMembership.
  • All service hours through December 31, 2022, must be entered into the Service to America online tally by their January 31, 2023, deadline. Additional hours entered through the Chapter Master Report (CMR) into the Service to America online tally will not count toward 2022 service.
  • Some activities may count for more than one committee. Be sure to check all that apply to get full credit.
