Looking Ahead to the 124th Continental Congress
With less than two months until we gather together in Washington, D.C., for the 124th Continental Congress, I have so many exciting updates to share with you! Celebrate 125! Events at Congress: We will be launching our 125th anniversary festivities at Congress, so be sure to not miss Opening Night or these other special events celebrating our 125 years of service. Read more here.
Education Awards Night: Join us as we recognize Emmy award winning writer and historian Geoffrey Ward, as well as the winners of the American History Essay Contest, DAR Good Citizen, American History Scholarship and Outstanding Teacher of American History awards. Learn more about the evening here.
Celebrate America Night: Share your stories of service from the past year on the Celebrate America Wall, take part in a service project with BlueStar Families, visit the various committee booths and enjoy a presentation by Genealogy Roadshow host Joshua Taylor. Read more about the festivities here.
National Defense Night: Join us in honoring our nation’s active duty service members and veterans during this moving ceremony. Special award presentations will highlight the notable service of Lt. Gen. Michelle D. Johnson, Superintendent US Air Force Academy; Colonel Lee Ellis, USAF (retired), former Vietnam War POW; Captain Diane Carlson Evans, US ANC, founder and president of the Vietnam Women’s Memorial Foundation; and J.R. Martinez, Iraq War veteran, actor, author, motivational speaker and spokesperson for many worthy charity organizations. The documentary, “Unsung Heroes: The Story of America’s Female Patriots” will also be honored, along with and the Army Nurse of the Year, Outstanding Veteran Volunteer, Outstanding Youth Volunteer and Outstanding DAR Service for Veterans winners. Red Cross Blood Drive: In the 125 year history of the DAR, the Red Cross and the Daughters of the American Revolution have had a long-standing relationship of coming together in service to America. In honor of that relationship and the DAR’s 125th anniversary, we are partnering with the Red Cross to promote a public blood drive. For more details, click here.
National Committee Luncheons: Enjoy a lovely meal and join with members from all over the country to support DAR’s efforts by attending one or more of our national luncheons including Patriotism, Historic Preservation, DAR School and Junior Membership. Shopping at Congress: Visit the Congress Shops in the Texas Lone Star Lounge as well as the DAR Store and the DAR Museum Shop for terrific gifts and other special items. For a list of Congress Shops vendors, click here.
All-American DAR Chorus: Join the DAR Chorus and perform during an evening ceremony at Constitution Hall! For more information, click here.
Event for Men and Families: If you have family joining you at Congress, sign them up for a tour of the National Museum of the Marine Corps and a visit to the Iwo Jima Memorial. For details, click here.
Independence Day Parade: Represent DAR and walk with your fellow members in the Independence Day Parade in Washington, D.C., on July 4th. For more information on signing up, click here.

Please be mindful that the final Congress Schedule will be printed in the Congress Program that members receive at registration and that is the official schedule that should be followed while at Congress.
