Lineage Research Blog Series

With the New Year upon us, I wanted to highlight some of the resources available to you to assist with your genealogy research. Especially with the opportunities that will be presented to us with the upcoming 250th anniversary of the United States, we must take advantage of the increased interest women show in our organization and help them become members.

In addition to the America 250! Membership Task Force, the Lineage Research Committee is your go-to source when you are looking for genealogy research assistants. The members who are part of this committee and part of the Lineage Research Lookup Board Volunteers have a wide and diverse knowledge to be able to share resources and help with research for DAR applications and supplementals.

The committee’s expertise is so expansive that I’ve asked National Chair, Morgan Elliott, and her Vice Chairs to write a series of blog posts throughout the upcoming year to explain how they can be of service to you in your research journeys. Their experiences range from general genealogy research to specialties in researching African American Patriots, French Patriots, Spanish Patriots, as well as DNA research and searching for tough Patriot information thought to be “closed cases.”

I hope you will enjoy their blog posts over the coming year and learn how you can utilize their expert services!

I’m also excited to tell you about a new social event that will be introduced at this year’s 127th Continental Congress where you will be able to meet this experienced and talented team from the Lineage Research Committee. On the Friday of Congress, the Lineage Research Afternoon Networking Social will be held at the Hyatt from 3-5 pm prior to Service to America Night at the hotel. All members who are interested are invited to attend and network with the Lineage Research Committee national and division vice chairs as well as Daughters who participate in the Lineage Research Lookup Board and Lineage Research Facebook group.

You will find out more about the Continental Congress Lineage Research Afternoon Networking Social in the upcoming months, but I just wanted to make sure you keep your eye out for it when the Congress schedule comes out in March.

If you want to get a head start learning more about what the Lineage Research Committee does, visit their committee page where you can watch a video presentation overview of the committee and explore the different projects and specialty research the committee has undertaken.
