As the leaves begin to turn and plans are being made for the term ahead, the Development Committee is honored to have the opportunity to serve the Dillon Administration, the National Society, State Societies and Chapters. As National Chair of the Development Committee, I am looking forward to the exciting time ahead for the DAR and hope you are too.

I was pleased to receive the new 3-year pocket calendar, a most useful tool!  It is our silent organizer which allows us to chart our schedules and plans….while keeping our eyes on the DAR ball.  Our committee will be preparing to attend state conferences when invited, sharing the Development opportunities and often presenting programs to assist our states and chapters to enhance their development efforts in their areas.  Our committee will be involved with many initiatives in support of the Guardian Trust Endowment, General Fund and the President General’s Project

There are so many programs and activities to anticipate which is why my  3-year pocket calendar was so welcome last week.  Initiatives are underway to enhance the Guardian Trust Endowment, encourage donations to the General Fund and promote the President General’s Project.   With all of these activities, it is helpful to see all of my information in one location!

One of the key elements of the President General’s Project is the transformation of our very popular DAR Museum gallery. The only decorative arts museum in the nation’s capital, our 125 year old museum has 31 period rooms illustrating the American home from the 1600s to the 1930s and two galleries that feature changing exhibitions. This renovation is greatly needed and long overdue.

As you know, our museum gallery plays such an important role in our Nation’s capital.  The gallery truly portrays the American experience of our Revolutionary ancestors to the tens of thousands of guests from over 70 countries all over the globe who visit each year. The President General’s Project will address reconfiguring this space to better accommodate our visitors, redesign the Gallery pathways to enhance the educational experience and replace our old HVAC system to better protect our historic treasures.

The distribution of the 3-year pocket calendar is one of the early highlights of each administration. The calendar includes important patriotic dates and NSDAR contact information. It is the perfect tool to help you manage your work.  It may be used as a checkbook cover or given as a gift to family or to new members.

If you have not received your 3-year pocket calendar through the mail recently you still have an opportunity to obtain your own copy.  Over the next several days you will be receiving an email from Mrs. Dillon that will tell you all about the President General’s Project and how your contribution will help the extensive renovation of the museum gallery at NSDAR.

When you support the President General’s Project with a gift of $30 or more OR when you sign up as a Sustaining Supporter (our popular monthly giving initiative) you will receive the 3-year pocket calendar while supplies last. Please consider supporting this exciting project.  Your help is needed to revitalize the DAR Museum Gallery, an essential element in our DAR Home.

As always, I am looking forward to Moving Forward in Service to America.
