DAR Insignia Store Takes Shape

Denise Doring VanBuren, President General

Exciting progress continues to create The DAR Insignia Store to meet all of your insignia needs – while supporting the mission-driven work of our National Society.

As you likely recall, voters to Continental Congress in June approved the initiative to establish The DAR Insignia Store, which will sell DAR insignia directly to members after the expiration of the contract with Hamilton Insignia in February 2020. Doing so will benefit the National Society because all net proceeds from sales will be used to further our DAR mission, rather than supporting a third-party provider.

Since the vote, the Insignia Task Force (comprised of the Corresponding Secretary General, the Organizing Secretary General, NSDAR staff and DAR members with expertise in retail, finance, and project management) has been working diligently to achieve the goal of selling insignia directly to members by Continental Congress 2020. We have now achieved three significant milestones: hiring an Insignia Director, selecting American manufacturers of jewelry-quality pins, and contracting for sales-related infrastructure. We have also outfitted the O’Byrne Room in the lower level of DAR Memorial Continental Hall to accommodate the sales team. In short, I am pleased to report that the National Society is on track for the promised launch date at Congress in June.

Please be reminded that the last date to place an order with Hamilton Insignia is February 28, 2020.  All questions about ordering insignia from Hamilton Insignia, and having such orders fulfilled and delivered by Hamilton, should be directed to Hamilton Insignia. Understandably, the National Society cannot fulfill any order placed with Hamilton.

Though there will be no opportunity to purchase DAR Insignia from February until Congress, we promise that it will be worth the wait, as The DAR Insignia Store will launch with very special offerings! Limited edition inaugural DAR insignia pins, including the VanBuren President General’s Project pins and new commemorative pins that recognize the anniversaries of important events leading up to America’s 250th birthday, will be announced ahead of the launch at Congress 2020. More information about ordering these pins will be provided as the exciting launch day approaches.

Are you passionate about DAR Insignia?  Would you like to promote sales of DAR Insignia and further the mission of the National Society?  Then I hope that you will consider becoming an Insignia Volunteer! A team of Insignia Volunteers is being formed to assist the permanent NSDAR staff with sales at pop-up DAR Insignia Stores at state meetings and at Continental Congress. Insignia Volunteers will help sell DAR Insignia by working at least one state meeting annually and at Continental Congress. If you are interested in joining this team of enthusiastic ambassadors for DAR Insignia, please click on the link below to learn more about the position and to access the application. The Insignia Volunteers will be a vital part of the sales team for DAR Insignia and their efforts will allow NSDAR to sell DAR Insignia to more members nationwide. All net proceeds from the sale of DAR Insignia will support the DAR mission! Consider applying today!
