DAR Headquarters Provides A Beautiful Backdrop for Special Events

What do a television news correspondent (and DAR Member), a bride and groom and actor Kevin Spacey have in common?  All have taken advantage of the beautiful spaces offered through the NSDAR Headquarters Private Rental Program.

Our event team, comprised of event managers, security and maintenance personnel, is kept busy from spring to winter.  In a single week we have hosted dignitaries addressing a non-profit group, a former White House chef curating a private dinner, a VIP party for talent performing at Constitution Hall, and the Washington National’s “Racing Presidents” amusing wedding guests with a 50 yard dash down C Street. . .  Needless to say, every event is unique!

The DAR’s most popular rental spaces are the O’Byrne Gallery, the Portico and the Library.  These public rooms have been transformed into everything from a New York Street Market to masterfully designed corporate showcases and almost weekly to the most elegant and romantically themed backdrop a bride could possibly wish for.  Revenue generated from functions hosted at DAR cover the expenses of the event, with everything extra going towards to help the substantial costs of maintaining our historic property. Clients appreciate the history of the DAR, and often request Docent tours so their out of town guests may enjoy the period rooms and learn of the organization’s 125 years of service.  The interest generated through these evening tours brings many attendees back for a second visit with their families or to formally learn about library research and membership criteria.

Memorial Continental Hall is consistently rated as the most beautiful venue in all of Washington, D.C. by Washingtonian Magazine. Winning top honors in a field that includes the Smithsonian Museums, the National Women’s Museum, the Corcoran Gallery, and Dumbarton House is a distinction all Members can be proud of.
