Bonjour à Paris! - Day One

Virginia Lingelbach, Chaplain General

The Wright Administration is excited to begin our “Paris When It Sparkles” trip, which is dedicated to celebrating the enduring connection between America and France. The United States had no stronger ally in its fight for independence than France. Almost 250 years ago, our two countries began developing an unbreakable bond rooted in the shared ideals of liberty and freedom. I’m looking forward to several days of remembrance and commemoration as we celebrate the Franco-American connection. It was a pleasure to kick off our celebrations by bringing greetings at the Rochambeau Chapter’s 90th anniversary celebration, where Franco-American friendship shined. Please learn more about this sparkling occasion in this blog post from Virginia Grace Lingelbach, Chaplain General.

- Pamela Wright, President General

Over 125 Daughters, spouses, and guests have arrived in Paris, France, as we kick off the second international trip of the Wright Administration. France first officially established diplomatic relationships with our new nation in 1778. While the names of Frenchmen such as Lafayette and Rochambeau have been enshrined in American hearts for centuries, more than 12,000 soldiers and 32,000 sailors from France proved vital to our efforts to win the Revolutionary War. We are pleased that the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution will spend time over the next several days celebrating and acknowledging their service and sacrifice.

The President General and several Executive Officers were honored to begin the French celebrations early by attending the Rochambeau Chapter’s 90th Anniversary gala dinner, where the President General brought greetings and highlighted the depth of friendship between America and France. What a pleasure to join with our Units Overseas to commemorate this wonderful achievement! It was a unique privilege to dine in the historic Luxembourg Palace, home to the French Senate, alongside special guest French Senator Marta de Cidrac, representing Yvelines. Congratulations to Rochambeau Chapter Regent Catherine Armand on a fabulous night!

It was an honor to officially kick off our trip with a welcome dinner for our travelers on Sunday evening. The President General shared her excitement for strengthening our ties of DAR friendship while new and old friends bonded over a multi-course French meal. We are pleased to be partnering once again with Academic Travel Abroad, our travel planners, and their team of experienced tour directors and guides. They have created an itinerary with wreath laying, plaque dedications, special tours, and more in the coming days.
