E Pluribus Unum. “Out of Many, One.”
In 2025, upon the eve of our Nation’s 250th anniversary and the beginning of the Storage Administration, DAR created the E Pluribus Unum Committee was created as a way to honor and bring more awareness to the contributions of all Patriots of the American Revolution, especially those who are too often left off the pages of history.
The E Pluribus Unum Educational Initiative, started in 2020 and expanding on decades of DAR research, is meant to be a project that showcases DAR resources on underrepresented Patriots with the public. The E Pluribus Unum Committee seeks to engage DAR members and the communities they are a part of directly in meaningful ways to recognize these Patriots.
Members and chapters are encouraged to Illuminate our Legacy through the mission and work of the E Pluribus Unum Committee by expanding knowledge about Patriots of Patriots of Color including those of African American and Native American descent. Members can do this through exploring the entries in the Patriots of Color database, reading profiles of Patriots on the EPU site, and sharing stories of these Patriots with other members through E Pluribus Unum Patriot Minutes at Chapter meetings and in newsletters. We also encourage members to share these important stories with their local communities, providing an accurate historical awareness of the cultural richness of Revolutionary War Patriots.
