One of the highlights of Continental Congress for me is celebrating the many accomplishments of our members and shining a light on the countless ways our members serve their communities across the nation and around the world.
National Defense Night – The 25th Anniversary of 9/11 and Military Honors
Congratulations to Jenn Pond, National Chair of the Service to America Committee, and her entire team on such a great success of Illuminating Our Service Night last night. And thank you, Daughters, for the joy and fellowship you shared throughout the event. I hope you found new ways to get involved in our mission through the committee booths and sessions. It was a wonderful opportunity to not only showcase our volunteerism but to learn more about the vital work being done across our National Society.
And today we had a preview of our new digital publication, The Daughters’ Portico. The inaugural issue is available now and I look forward to opportunity it will provide to share our stories, accomplishments, and connections in a new and engaging way.
Tonight’s National Defense Night is one of our most treasured traditions where we celebrate another pillar of DAR’s mission, Patriotism. Tonight we commemorate the 25th Anniversary of the attacks on September 11th, 2001, by recognizing deserving awardees. If you can’t be with us this evening, the livestream of the National Defense Night ceremony can be found on the Congress Website this evening.
Following National Defense Night, I look forward to gathering at the Congress Reception. As we mark the close of this remarkable week, let's celebrate all we have accomplished together and cherish the friendships and memories made. Let us continue to Illuminate Our Legacy and carry that spirit of service, friendship, and purpose forward in all we do.
