Last night was an important reminder of the power that supporting the education of our youth can have across the country. In such a historic year, where so much effort is being focused on teaching our country’s founding, it was inspiring to hear from our Essay Contest winners and our Outstanding Teacher of American History awardee Karl McCarty on the importance of reflecting on our founding, while looking forward to the future.
Illuminate Your Service Impact – Join Us Tonight!
I want to take a moment to congratulate our 2026 DAR Outstanding Junior Member Sasha Atherton Quillin! It was a pleasure to honor you and your accomplishments last night. Know that we are so grateful for all that you have contributed to the DAR thus far and look forward to seeing all the amazing things you do in the future.
Today we will have a morning and afternoon Business Session, to conduct the work of our National Society. We will also have the nominations of the Candidates for Honorary Vice Presidents General and Vice President General. This afternoon we will begin to hear the reports of our State Regents, about the efforts of our members across the country.
I am looking forward to seeing everyone at the Illuminate Our Service Night event at the JW Mariott from 7:00 to 9:30pm. This event highlights the many ways Daughters can get involved in their communities in support of our three mission areas of historic preservation, education, and patriotism. Each of our committees as well as several of our external collaborating organizations will have tables where you can learn more about each. We welcome you to come and go as you please at this free event. If you have time, be sure to stop by the Service to America and Historic Preservation committee award presentations and have some fun watching the DAR Family Feud game!
I cannot wait to see the ways all of our fantastic committees Illuminate Our Legacy this evening. See you there!
