The 124th Arizona State Conference was a memorable celebration of service, friendship, and the enduring legacy of the Daughters

The 124th Arizona State Conference was a memorable celebration of service, friendship, and the enduring legacy of the Daughters who came before us. As the State Society commemorates its 125th anniversary, founded in 1901 while Arizona was still a territory, Daughters gathered from across the state to conduct business and celebrate the remarkable impact our Society continues to make in communities throughout Arizona.

Conference activities began on Thursday with a special visit to the Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation Cultural Center and Museum. Arizona Daughters enjoyed an educational tour led by Cultural Coordinator Clissene Lewis. Through stories the Yavapai history and journey, attendees gained a deeper appreciation for the rich heritage of Arizona and the importance of preserving and sharing these stories for future generations.

Friday provided opportunities for both learning and fellowship. Visiting State Regents from Missouri, Nevada, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee toured Frank Lloyd Wright's Taliesin West, experiencing one of Arizona's most significant historic landmarks.

During the business meeting, Arizona Daughters celebrated extraordinary accomplishments from the Ziker administration. Members learned more than $117,000 had been raised to support the State Regent’s Projects including the nation's first All-Female All-DAR Veteran Member Honor Flight. In addition, Arizona chapters distributed more than 20,000 United States flags throughout their communities and established a $50,000 fund dedicated to restoring state and chapter DAR historical markers. This important initiative will preserve Arizona history while honoring the vision and dedication of the Daughters whose efforts created these markers throughout Arizona DAR’s 125 year history.

Gifts of Gratitude for Arizona's Wildland Fire Fighters

The conference also offered plenty of opportunities for fun and engagement. Daughters enjoyed shopping at chapter tables and the Insignia Pop-Up Shop. Foyer activities encouraged participation throughout the weekend. Members added their signatures to a banner that will become part of a time capsule to be opened during America's 300th anniversary celebration, assembled Gifts of Gratitude for Arizona's Wildland Fire Fighters, shared memories through festive photo opportunities, and added their Patriot’s name to the ornaments of the Legacy trees around the conference.

A fashion presentation by Parasols and Petticoats highlighted historical styles through the decades, while attendees even learned a few dance steps along the way. What a fun way to celebrate Arizona DAR’s 125th anniversary!
