Hawai'i State Visit

Laura Ingenluyff, Hawai'i State Regent

Hawaiʻi Daughters gathered with pride, unity and love at our state conference held on March 7, 2026. We were tickled “pink” to welcome our lovely President General, Ginnie Sebastian Storage, greeting her with Aloha spirit, a hug, smiles, and a lei. Montana State Regent Janice Hand joined us, too, adding extra sparkle to the celebration.

What better way to start off our visit than with a little shopping at Hilo Hattie’s and, a bit later, enjoying a delicious dinner along the beach with Diamond Head in the background. We were blessed to have Christine Domhoff, Hawai'i State Vice Regent, join us.

Prior to the conference, we toured Honolulu’s historic Mission Houses with 27 Daughters and C.A.R. members - such history! One building, the oldest still standing, left us in awe. It was so interesting to listen to the impact of the missionaries and their relationships with the Hawaiian people. That afternoon, we traded casual clothes for cocktail attire and attended an elegant event hosted by the President General and the NSDAR Development Department. Mrs. Storage stirred excitement and pride as she shared DAR’s inspiring projects – ensuring our legacy shines for generations.

The Hawai'i State theme for this administration is “Be proud, share the Aloha and celebrate with glory, service, unity and love.” Our members embodied every word – through tireless community work, literacy programs, and service to veterans just to name a few areas of our DAR work. The primary state project is to write a book honoring our Gold Star families. We’re also marking America 250! with special events, moving into the future through digitizing our state records, preserving historic sites, and boosting member education via DAR Leadership Training courses.

President General Storage sashed our state’s Outstanding Junior with a specially made Hawaiian sash

The conference opened with our business meeting celebrating state-wide achievements and honoring state winners. The Aloha spirit wrapped around us like warm trade winds. It was a thrill to have President General Storage present the awards, especially when she sashed our state’s Outstanding Junior with a specially made Hawaiian sash. We snapped group photos following the business portion, capturing laughter, friendships, and memories we’ll cherish forever.

A delicious and lively lunch followed and President General Storage captivated us and illuminated the room with stories of our DAR Founders and the magnificent history of our House Beautiful. Our members learned about the beginnings of the DAR Library and its growth into today’s vast collection. She highlighted the administration’s theme and key efforts, including DAR’s contributions to the Trust for the National Mall's Cherry Tree Endowment and the enhanced DAR Library Search Portal. The room glowed with pride.

Mahalo nui loa Madam President General Storage and Montana State Regent Hand for making the Hawai'i State Conference unforgettable. It was a magical blend of friendship, pride, love, laughter, recognition, unity and passion – everything DAR stands for. We left inspired, connected, and ready to carry the Aloha forward.
