North Dakota State Visit

Priscilla Jevne, North Dakota State Regent

I was so looking forward to the opportunity to join the Daughters of North Dakota for your 117th State Conference in Fargo; however, winter weather prevented my visit. I was delighted to hear what a wonderful and successful gathering it was. Your warm fellowship and dedication to service truly reflect the spirit of the DAR. I am especially proud of the exciting initiatives you continue to lead, and I look forward to adding North Dakota back to my travel schedule so I may gather with you in person very soon.

117th North Dakota State Society DAR Conferecne in Fargo

Despite old man weather, the 117th North Dakota State Society DAR Conference was held February 21st, 2026 in Fargo, North Dakota. Just a couple days prior to the conference, North Dakota was hit by snow and a winter storm warning. However, by conference day the roads were manageable. Several of us and our guests from South Dakota, Minnesota, and Nebraska took to the road and made it to Fargo. Unfortunately, Chicago wanted to keep President General Ginnie Sebastian Storage and she was unable to attend. However, like they say, “The Show Must Go On.”

Meteorologist Jacob Morse and Priscilla Jevne, North Dakota State Regent

The first full day was full of trivia, silent auction, business, awards, and service fun. At our luncheon, we showed a video of a weather report that was on our local tv station KYFR. The report was done by meteorologist Jacob Morse. It aired last spring and was about the role weather played during the Revolutionary War. After the video we presented Jacob Morse an American 250! Commendation Award for his report. We also presented a Good Citizen Award to Aubrie Ginsbach.

Insignia Pop Up

It was a great day full of excitement. There were, of course, the business meetings but also the Insignia Pop-Up Shop, silent auctions, prize drawings and trivia.

During the business meeting, my state project and theme was approved. This project includes digitizing our state history books and scrapbooks. It also includes pictures of DAR Markers and historic markers. The theme for my project is “Celebrate the Past and Illuminate the Future.” We also got our America 250! project approved. There will be more information regarding that in the future - so stay tuned. We are still in the planning and development stage and would like to see it completed later this year.

Members Filling Activity Bags

While some members were attending to business other members and guests were able to fill activity bags for donation to the Fargo Department of Veterans Affairs and take a guided tour of the Plains Art Museum.

David Rice for Outstanding Veteran Volunteer

Later that evening we had our banquet. We were honored to have Liz Pitts from the NSDAR Development Office be our speaker. She spoke on the history of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and how our founding members started our beloved society. We also gave out an award to David Rice for Outstanding Veteran Volunteer.

The weekend ended Sunday morning with a memorial service remembering our those who we have lost the past year.

Michelle McElroy, Valerie Stachour and Priscilla Jevne, NOrth Dakota State Regent

I am so blessed to have a wonderful group of women supporting and working together serving in our society. Thank you, to guests, pages, and members who were able to attend the conference and make it a success.

We sincerely missed Mrs. Storage. However, we understand it is February, we are in North Dakota, and old man winter can be unpredictable. The show did go on and we got business taken care of. We all had a wonderful time together, Illuminating our Legacy.
