In October, the National Board of Management voted to cease print, subscription-only publication of American Spirit and Daughters with the March/April 2026 issue and begin producing a digital magazine distributed to all members beginning with the July/August 2026 issue. The DAR Magazine Committee is grateful to all of the members who have written to us with questions about this transition, and we are excited to bring you some updates!
Update on the Digital Magazine Transition
(Help Us) Name That Magazine! Contest
Here is an update and opportunity for all members: (Help Us) Name That Magazine! The Executive Committee is seeking member input on potential names for the new digital publication. From January 28 to February 4, you may log in to the DAR Magazine Community on the Daughters Online Community (DOC) and submit your best idea for the new digital publication’s name along with a rationale for your idea. You may submit as many names as you like, and the states and divisions that submit the most ideas (based on a percentage of membership) will be recognized during Continental Congress.
Once all of the ideas are submitted, the DAR Magazine Committee will share a report on the ideas submitted with the Executive Committee for consideration! The name of the new publication will be announced at a later date.
We can’t wait to hear your ideas! This new digital publication will truly be our magazine, telling our stories of DAR service and friendship.
Dispensation of Remaining Subscriptions
Although our subscription program had a long-standing policy of no refunds, the National Society is pleased to show appreciation for and honor our subscribers’ dedicated support by providing specific dispensation options for remaining personal subscription funds, as well as remaining gift subscriptions purchased by both individuals and chapters. Subscribers will receive an email Friday, January 30, with further information and instructions.
State and Chapter Advertising
In lieu of a full May/June issue of Daughters, the National Society will provide a print issue that is primarily state and chapter advertising, along with a President General’s Message and a few other pertinent items. Please submit your advertising as normal based on the Daughters media kit.
The NSDAR Executive Committee recently voted to hold advertising pricing at the same rates through 2026, and there will be equivalent advertising in the digital publication as there has been in the print Daughters. Please follow the submission guidelines and deadlines outlined in the Daughters media kit, which will be updated later this spring, with one exception: You may include color in your designs!
“With the Chapters” and “State Activities” Submissions
Please keep submitting your “With the Chapters” and “State Activities” articles and photos! The current guidelines apply, and we look forward to presenting this information in a new format.
