DAR Celebrates America 250! – A Weekend You Don’t Want to Miss!

Ginnie Sebastian Storage, President General
DAR Constitution Hall

We are excited to announce that this upcoming April, DAR is going to host a weekend of activities at National Headquarters to celebrate America’s 250th anniversary! We hope you will join us for these special events as we celebrate this momentous occasion.

The DAR Celebrates America 250! weekend starts on the evening of Friday, April 17, with a special DAR Members’ Only Welcome Reception in the Constitution Hall Lobby. The fun continues on the morning of Saturday, April 18, when DAR Headquarters will host our America 250! Birthday Party – a public open house for the whole family with activities, entertainment and birthday cupcakes. Invite your family, friends and neighbors to join us for this free event from 10 am – 12:30 pm. More details will be shared in the new year.

We are also thrilled to share that DAR will present a landmark event in honor of our nation’s 250th anniversary: DAR Celebrates America 250! A Salute to Women Veterans, featuring legendary artist Patti LaBelle in concert at our historic DAR Constitution Hall. This special event will take place on Saturday, April 18 at 7 pm. Tickets will go on sale to the public on December 19 at Ticketmaster.com but a special presale will be available to DAR members from December 15-18. An email and members’ announcement with the presale code will be shared with members on Friday, December 12.

Military Women's Memorial

As part of DAR’s ongoing commitment to patriotism and service, this special evening will honor America’s military women, past and present, by paying tribute to their courage, sacrifice, and contributions to the nation’s defense over the last 250 years. The event will spotlight the work of the Military Women’s Memorial in preserving and honoring the experiences of servicewomen. Proceeds from the concert will support DAR’s Vivian’s Outreach to Women (VOW) Grant Program for organizations serving homeless and indigent women veterans.

The concert will begin with a short program recognizing women veterans and organizations that support them, followed by a full-length concert by Patti LaBelle. Widely celebrated as the Godmother of Soul, LaBelle will bring her powerhouse vocals and timeless elegance back to DAR Constitution Hall where she has entertained audiences many times over her illustrious 65 years of performing – this time to help us celebrate America’s 250th birthday!

Plan to join us for what will be a weekend filled with fun activities and celebrations! More information and updates will be shared on the DAR Website:www.dar.org/Celebrate250
