Let’s celebrate Service at our Sparkle in Service Committee Night during Continental Congress!

Jamie Burchfield, National Chair, Service to America Committee

A highlight of Continental Congress is celebrating our accomplishments and shining a light on the service Daughters provide to communities worldwide. Our Sparkle in Service Committee Showcase at the JW Marriott on Friday night is the perfect way to do this! Join us from 7-9:30 p.m. for a free, come-and-go event that is designed to highlight the ways our DAR committees serve our communities. This will truly be a celebration of all that has been accomplished during the Wright Administration!

Don your cocktail or business attire (pins not required!), visit the cash bar, make new friends or catch up with old friends, and immerse yourself in DAR’s commitment to volunteerism. We will have hands-on Service in Seconds opportunities in support of the DAR Mission. Award winners will be celebrated for the Service to America, Development, DAR Magazine, and Franco-American Memorial committee contests.

Find out how successful customer service models can aid you in serving your chapter’s members through a micro-presentation on The DAR Member Experience. Are you a McDonald’s, Chick-Fil-A, or Burger King member? The answer may surprise you! We will close the night with a Celebrating America 250! Presentation by the America 250! Committee.

During the evening you will also be able to interact with 50 DAR committees and community partners in the main ballroom. This is the perfect opportunity to learn about the important work of our DAR committees and to get ideas for chapter activities! Make sure you grab your Sparkle Passport. Once you’ve completed your passport you can return to the welcome station to be eligible for fun DAR prizes that will be drawn throughout the night! We will also have a few service opportunities during Sparkle night. We will be writing cards to active-duty military and will have a link for care packages for the Honor Guard for each branch of the military that provides support for funeral services through the Joint Base Myer Henderson Hall in Arlington, VA. To start your service now, you may preorder supplies: CLICK HERE. We will also be putting together tribute bags for Honor Flight participants. You can also take a moment to send a note of gratitude to a DAR mentor and friend at our gratitude station. We’ve created a special postcard that will be mailed after Congress (or you can take with you to give in-person!).

Make sure you stop by our Service to America Service Station to log your Service to America hours. This will be the FINAL night of logging hours during the Wright Administration before we report our administration totals on Saturday. Daughters have enthusiastically logged hours the entirety of this administration, setting new records in service in each year. Help us meet our new goal of logging 2.5 million hours in 2025 before the close of the Wright Administration! We can’t wait to find out what our final total will be! Every Daughter who logs hours during Sparkle Night will be given the opportunity to participate in a fun game of heads or tails in the presentation ballroom at 8:30 pm for a grand prize of a DAR Insignia gift card!

There’s something for everyone at Sparkle in Service Night and we can’t wait to sparkle with you!
