134th Congress App Launched and Continental Congress Honorees Announced!

Pamela Wright, President General

The 134th Continental Congress is quickly approaching and I am thrilled to share more updates with you today!

DAR Congress App

The Congress App
The 134th Continental Congress App is now available! For those travelling to Washington, DC later this month, please download the Congress App to your smartphone or tablet to have the most up-to-date Congress information at your fingertips. To download the Congress App, search the App Store (iPhone) or Google Play Store (Android) for “DAR Continental Congress” and download the app. If you already have the app downloaded on your device from last year, when you open it, select the 134th Congress version.

From the app, you can access the overall Congress Schedule, maps and important information. Additionally, you can view and update your profile – if you used this feature on the app previously, you will see your past information is automatically loaded in – update it for this year, and mark yourself as “visible” to be found by others using the Congress App.

Members will also be able to log in with your Congress Registration information to set up your personal profile, personal Congress schedule, connect with other attendees and access your QR Code for Registration.

Please note: In order to be able to download the app, your phone requires the iOS 14 or higher operating system for iPhones or Android 10 and higher operating system for Android. You may try to update your phone to the latest operating system in your phone settings, but if your phone is too old to do this, you will not be able to download the app. You will be able to access all Congress schedules and maps in your welcome packet when you arrive at Congress.

Congress ballot voting is performed on a different platform and not on the Congress App, so if you are unable to download the app, it will not affect your ability to vote via the SimplyVoting platform.

**Be sure to enable push notifications on the Congress App to receive important timely messages during Congress week!**

Updates and information will continue to be released on the Congress App leading up to and during Congress.

Continental Congress Honorees
We will be honoring some wonderful award recipients at this year’s Continental Congress, including musician and environmentalist Chuck Leavell, during Opening Night and National Security Expert and former CIA Analyst, Gina Bennett, during National Defense Night.

Chuck Leavell

Chuck Leavell, sometimes known as “the fifth Rolling Stone,” is a musician and environmentalist. He has served as the principal touring keyboardist and music director for the Rolling Stones since 1982. His piano and keyboard performances have been heard in the works of Eric Clapton, The Rolling Stones, John Mayer, The Black Crowes, George Harrison, The Allman Brothers Band, and many more. Leavell is a published author, long time tree farmer, co-founder of the website The Mother Nature Network, and a staunch advocate for the conservation of our nation's forests. His lifelong commitments to music and the environment are showcased in the award winning 2020 documentary Chuck Leavell: The Tree Man. He lives in Georgia with his wife, Rose Lane, where they oversee their forestland. Mr. Leavell will be receiving the President General’s Medallion.

Gina Bennett

The recipient of this year's DAR Patriot Award, Gina Bennett, is a counterterrorism expert whose more than 30-year career in the U.S. Intelligence Community includes authoring the first warning on Osama bin Laden. A former CIA Senior Analyst, she’s been featured in Spymasters (Showtime), Manhunt (HBO), and PBS’s Makers: Women Who Make America. She holds degrees from UVA and the Marine Corps War College, where she was a Distinguished Graduate. Bennett is an adjunct professor at Georgetown University and George Washington University, and she serves on the Board of Directors for Girl Security, championing young women in national security careers. Her work continues to shape policy and inspire future national security leaders.

You can learn more about all of this year’s deserving award recipients on the Honoree section of the Congress Website and on the Congress App.
