The Michigan State Visit

Dawn Brady, Michigan State Regent

It was special to be with the Michigan Daughters for their 124th State Conference and to learn about all the wonderful work they are doing in their communities. The Michigan Daughters are sparkling brightly!  Heartfelt thanks to State Regent Dawn Brady for her attention to detail and dedicated leadership for the love of DAR!   I so appreciate Lyndsay Lawless for providing my transportation and serving as my Personal Page, the last duty of her Paging career.

- Pamela Wright, President General

The 124th Michigan State Conference of the Daughters of the American Revolution brought together its members “For the Love of DAR” in Troy, Michigan. We celebrated achievements, discussed future goals, and reinforced our commitment to patriotism and community service.

Michigan Daughters were excited to have the Insignia Pop-up Shop for the first time and queued up hours before the Night Owl kick-off. The DAR of Michigan provided ten workshops with valuable training on membership growth, community outreach strategies, and financial strategies for women depending on their life stage. We were thrilled to hear from three national chairs: Beth Garner, American Indians, Laura Druker Membership, and Marria Blinn, The Flag of the United States of America.

Reports from 27 Chapter Regents showcased the accomplishments of local chapters over the past year, and the State Chair exhibition provided members with 90 minutes to explore the various committees and ask questions.

The camaraderie among members reinforced the collective mission of the DAR, emphasizing the shared values of patriotism, education, and service. We celebrated 83 members volunteering over 800 hours at the recent Motor City 2024 Conferences for EANGUS and NAGUS. Lt. Col. Self presented each member who volunteered with a special challenge coin designed for the conferences. Erika Hoover accepted a $5,000 donation from the State Regent's Project for DAR of Michigan to be a Gold Level sponsor for the 2024 MVAA Women Veterans Conference. DAR of Michigan is excited to have three members, all veterans, represent the group. DAR of Michigan was pleased to present $7,500 to the Archives of Michigan as the start of the State Regent's Project to preserve Michigan’s first constitution from 1835.

The highlight of the entire conference was our special guest, President General Pamela Rouse Wright. She distributed 100% participation certificates for the President General Project to 46 Chapters. She inspired all in attendance with her remarks on the DAR Ties of Service and Friendship. Plus, she gave away suffrage pins from the Insignia Shop and thanked each of the 29 pages with certificates and photos.

Overall, the 124th Michigan State Conference was a vibrant celebration of the DAR's legacy, inspiring members to continue their vital work in promoting history, education, and patriotism “For the Love of DAR.”
