New Genealogy Offerings Available Now

A goal of DAR and the Genealogy Department is to educate and assist members with the preparation of Application and Supplemental papers.  Along with the verification of new member and member Supplemental Applications, a goal of the Registrar General’s Department is to educate members with their proper preparation.  This month, we are offering a new online course in the Genealogy Education Program (GEP) series, Supplemental Applications.  All Daughters, whether new members or long-term chapter registrars, will benefit from taking this class.  We are also proud to announce the addition of new educational Genie Clips.  The videos can be used for member enjoyment or as part of chapter or state programs.

The new Supplemental Applications course provides instructions on preparing a Supplemental Application.  It also discusses the differences between Supplementals and New Member Applications. The topics discussed in this course include identifying ancestors for Supplemental Applications, researching complex lineages, using indirect evidence, evaluating residence and service, and the policies for reviewing and verifying Supplemental Applications.  The course consists of eight lessons, eight quizzes, and six practice sections which are designed to help Members engage with the material discussed in each lesson.  The new GEP course costs $75 and is available to purchase on the Shopify website.  Members who complete the course will be eligible to purchase Supplemental course pins from the Insignia store.  A free preview of the first lesson and the first quiz is available to any member who has registered on the GEP website. Any Member who has not registered on the website and wishes to sign up may fill out the registration form here.  For more information on the GEP courses, please see the GEP section of the Member’s website.

We’d also like to share the following new Genie Clips, found on the Members Website.  There are three new state-specific research videos, and a new series with examples of how to cite sources on a DAR application or supplemental.
