Shaping the DAR Museum’s Future: Sharing Your Vision Through Our Strategic Plan

Susan Metzger, Curator General

At the DAR Museum, we collect, preserve, and interpret objects used and created in American homes. Using the lens of the varied interpretations of home, we inspire conversations about the diverse American experience encouraging people to discover common ground. With a home in the historic Memorial Continental Hall, our beloved DAR Museum stands as a testament to this legacy, a captivating space where the past comes alive and inspires the present.

Now, we stand at a pivotal moment. Work is underway on updating the various specialized documents and policies in preparation for the museum reaccreditation process. As one of the very first museums to be accredited by the American Alliance of Museums (AAM), it is a point of pride and evidence of the high level of professionalism our DAR Museum has long maintained. A key part of the accreditation is the development of a long-range strategic plan for the DAR Museum, one that will guide its evolution and ensure its continued relevance for years to come. But this isn’t a journey we can take alone. We need your voice, your vision, and your unwavering dedication to shape the museum’s future.

The DAR Museum isn’t just a collection of artifacts; it’s a living, breathing entity that thrives on the active participation of its members. That’s why we’re inviting you to share your thoughts and ideas through our comprehensive strategic plan survey:
