Today's DAR
This October, Daughters from coast to coast united once again to participate in the National DAR Day of Service, celebrating the anniversary of our Society’s founding on October 11. Over the past decade, members have contributed more than 60 million hours of service, making a profound and lasting impact in communities across the nation. Our Founders would surely be proud to see how today’s DAR thrives with purpose, passion, and dedication.
2024 Annual National DAR Day of Service Recap
Each year, members bring fresh ideas and enthusiasm to their service projects, making a difference in countless ways. Service efforts—ranging from historic preservation to education and community outreach—truly embodied the DAR spirit of service. The Daughters sparkled brightly on social media as well, with members sharing stories of their projects using #DARDayofService, empowering others to get involved and serve their communities.
Your dedication, commitment and creativity have made 2024’s DAR Day of Service another sparkling success. Thank you for continuing to uphold the DAR's mission through meaningful action—together, we are building a brighter future for generations to come! Your action and service inspires me every day, and I am both proud and humbled to stand alongside you.
These are just a few examples of the meaningful work Daughters undertook for DAR Day of Service:
- Packing backpacks for school aged children with food and other supplies
- Cleaning and tidying a historic home and restoring headstones in cemeteries
- Community and local street clean up
- Celebrating local first responders for their commitment to communities
- Donating time and materials to Veterans and VA Hospitals across the country.
- Helping ship goods and supplies to military families overseas
Service doesn’t stop here—it’s just the beginning! I encourage you to continue sharing the stories of your efforts through local and social media, inspiring others along the way. Please remember to log every volunteer hour in the Service to America Online Tally—each act of kindness matters more than you know. Also, consider submitting your Day of Service project for the Service to America Committee Contests. The deadline is January 15, 2025, and we can't wait to see the remarkable impact you’ve made!
