This Thanksgiving week, I am grateful for family, friends and Daughters around the world. I am also appreciative for our historic complex of buildings, including Memorial Continental Hall, DAR’s first home, a beacon of American history.
Our House Beautiful stands apart not only as a physical structure but also as a monument to the heroic men and women of the American Revolution. It has seen generations pass through its doors, each leaving an indelible mark on the pages of history. For over a century, this Beaux Arts icon has played a central role in preserving and creating American history. From hosting meetings of world leaders and dignitaries to welcoming countless visitors seeking a connection to their ancestors, Memorial Continental Hall has been a place of inspiration, education and reflection.
It is through the dedicated efforts of DAR and the unwavering support of our members and friends that we continue to write the story of this revered National Landmark.
The latest chapter of Memorial Continental Hall, the ongoing restoration and preservation work, goes well beyond bricks and mortar. This project is part of our patriotic duty to preserve its legacy and ours.
That is why we are filled with hope and determination to ensure that our House Beautiful stands strong for generations to come. The restoration and preservation effort is a true labor of love, and your support makes it all possible.
To express our gratitude for your generosity, we are making a special commemorative pashmina available to donors contributing $50 or more to our #GivingTuesday campaign before December 31, 2023, while supplies last. But you don’t have to wait—you can make an early #GivingTuesday gift right now and be part of preserving our historic legacy.
Thank you for your unwavering dedication to our mission. May your Thanksgiving be filled with cherished family traditions and very happy memories.
