Genealogy Research Institute Coming Soon!

Jeannine Dobbins, National Chair, DAR Genealogy Commission

Plans for the Second Annual NSDAR Genealogy Research Institute are well underway. The success of last year’s inaugural event has resulted in expansion of attendance to the first 200 registrants! Modifications in the format will allow attendees to choose from a variety of small group training sessions in the mornings.   Registrants will receive orientation information via email prior to the event to allow more time for research and class sessions.

Afternoon lecturers will be Victor Dunn, D. Joshua Taylor, and LaBrenda Garrett-Nelson. We are honored to have these acclaimed experts in the field of genealogy as our presenters. The addition of a jumbo-tron in Constitution Hall will add to the enjoyment of the afternoon lectures.

In addition to the special lectures in the afternoon, participants will attend a lavish dinner at the National Press Club on Tuesday evening, with guest speaker Ric Murphy, renowned author and lecturer.

Plus, the ultimate perk! Time to enjoy researching in our own wonderful DAR Library!

For those individuals not lucky enough to attend in person, subscriptions to videos of the afternoon lectures will be available following the Institute.

The Genealogy Research Institute will take place May 1-3, 2023, at DAR Headquarters in Washington, DC. The complete schedule and full information will be posted on the DAR Member’s Website on February 1. Registration will open February 15.
