Never in my wildest dream did I ever think I would have the opportunity to serve as Registrar General. I’m excited and honored to be a part of the Wright Administration. The Office of the Registrar General involves everything that deals with genealogy research, Applications, and Supplementals. I’m liaison to the genealogy committees Lineage Research, Volunteer Genealogists, Specialty Research, DAR Genealogy Preservation, DAR DNA Network, and Application Task Force. The Wright Administration has taken a bold move and is re-working the structure of the various genealogy-related committees, all working towards increasing membership, through researching new Patriots, preserving supporting documentation, assisting prospective members and registrars completing Applications and Supplementals.
Meet Your Executive Officers - Registrar General Rhonda Kren
Raised by an adventurous mother, I was exposed to family history early in my life. In 1963, Mom along with my grandmother, drove across the United States stopping along the way visiting our nation’s historical sites. From an old family homestead in Yuma, Colorado, to riding in an Amish buggy at Lancaster, Pennsylvania, Grandma shared her life growing up Quaker in Onarga, Illinois and coming out West. We never lost our curiously and adventure to find our history, tracing our roots and sharing our love of DAR together.
My dad’s mother was in the process of joining DAR in the late 60’s, so I knew I was related to a Patriot. Unfortunately, Grandma’s research didn’t reach me until many years later. I dove headfirst in proving my lineage and joined DAR in 2005. With my Mom, both daughters, sister and cousins joining, DAR has become a family affair.
Following in my mother’s footsteps, I too, chose a career path in the travel industry, working as a travel consultant, manager, and instructor at a local travel school. After retiring, I was appointed to Canyon County Planning and Zoning Commission and the Nampa Historical Perseverance Commission. My husband, Stephen, and I have three adult children and seven grandchildren. Spending time relaxing and playing at our mountain cabin is usually where you will find us in the summer months and enjoying a white Christmas.
Joining and belonging to the Ee-dah-dah Chapter has been an amazing journey. It lead to the opportunity to serve the Idaho State Society as Regent, Vice Regent, Organizing Secretary and Chaplain. My DAR adventures are cherished and rewarding, from cleaning tombstones, to shaking the hands of a newly naturalized citizens and making lifelong friends.
