Meet Your Executive Officers - Recording Secretary Lanabeth Horgen

As we Celebrate Stars & Stripes Forever! and Rejoice in our DAR ties of Service and Friendship I am deeply honored to serve the Wright Administration as Recording Secretary General. This office is the custodian of the legal record of the proceedings of the National Society. These include the minutes and rulings of the Executive Committee; the minutes and rulings of the National Board of Management; and the minutes of the Continental Congress, which are published in the NSDAR Annual Proceedings. 

Growing up in Independence, Missouri I was surrounded by family history. Family reunions were held in the basement of our church with tables piled high with homemade food. We would fill our plates and gather in the garden just outside the church graveyard. After dessert many of us would walk through the cemetery visiting graves of family and I would hear my mother and grandmother talk about Patriots in our family and how we could be in Daughters of the American Revolution.  Although fascinated, I never really took them seriously.

In 2009, my husband and I and our two American Cocker Spaniels moved to Bellevue, Washington where I transferred my membership to Cascade Chapter, NSDAR.

At the state level I have served as State Regent, State 1st Vice Regent, State Chaplain, State Meetings Committee Chairman, State Bylaws Chairman, member of the State Finance, State Restricted Funds, State Speakers Staff, State Dispatcher, and State DAR Schools Committees.

My national service includes Long-Range Planning Commission member; President General`s Advisor Kate Duncan Smith DAR School; National Chairman Corridor Hostess Committee; National Vice Chair Corridor Hostess Committee; National Vice Chair, DAR Schools Committee among other appointments.
