Meet Your Executive Officers - Chaplain General Virginia Lingelbach

It is my singular honor to have been elected to the Office of Chaplain General, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution. Theology is a very personal things to each of us, and I believe my role is to offer faith, friendship, compassion, remembrance, and a sense of belonging to our 190,000 Daughters. 

Most of you are familiar with the responsibilities of the Office of the Chaplain General and I look forward to including you in various ways in performing the duties of this office.  Planning the Memorial Service as part of the Continental Congress each year, installing newly elected national officers, planning for wreath-laying ceremonies at the Tomb of the Unknown Solider at Arlington Cemetery and at the tomb of George and Martha Washington at Mount Vernon, and speaking at your chapter and state meetings are just a few of the ceremonial obligations of this office.

Communicating with chapter members in response to birthday greeting requests for members celebrating their 90th and 100th and 100+ birthdays is truly a labor of love. It is also a privilege as a national executive officer to serve as executive liaison to six committees, all of which provide amazing service to America.

Not to show partiality, but, based on my life experience as the mother of three daughters, four granddaughters, one great-granddaughter, two great-granddaughters who are expected to debut his fall, and caregiver to my mother during the last decade of her life, I am drawn to activities and opportunities offered under the Women’s Issues committee. As a retired Department of Defense civilian employee with 30 years of service, the widow of an Air Force officer and wife of an Army officer, both Vietnam era veterans, I am intensely patriotic and supportive of all of our committees and recognition programs which support our veterans and military. As the daughter of a World War II veteran and granddaughter of a World War I veteran, I can truly say that this Administration’s theme “Celebrate Stars and Stripes Forever” has been a constant in my life since birth.
