We have a great ceremony on tap for you this evening – but first please allow me to express my deep gratitude to the more than 28,000 donors who made possible last night’s unveiling of our nearly fully restored Hall. THANK YOU – without your generous support and prayers, we could not have come this far. I am anxious for pandemic-related delays to be resolved and the project to be fully completed, but in the meantime: please know that all progress is being made possible because of YOU. (If you missed last night’s ceremony, you can view it here.) View images of the newly restored Hall here.
Looking Forward to National Defense Night - Doesn't Everyone?
Today we complete the important responsibility of voting, which will be conducted from 8 a.m. – 2 p.m. ET. Delegates received voting instructions to consider adoption of the report of the Audit Committee, the approval of the Inheritance Project and the election of the candidates for the Offices of Honorary Vice President General and Vice President General. Election results will be announced live following the business session that will feature the reports of selected National Chairs and recognize our most generous donors, all beginning at 1 p.m. ET.
Social events of the day include the American Indians and Junior Membership luncheons, and this evening we will have the President General’s Project Benefactors & Patriot Reception. Visit the Congress Virtual Hub to join these special events.
I promise that this evening’s National Defense Night ceremony will be a moving experience, as we present the DAR Patriot Award to U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd J. Austin III and the DAR Medal of Honor to David Bellavia. I hope that you will join us for an evening dedicated to the men and women who protect our national interests and security.
In fact, it has been heart-warming to see so many of you tuning into our Congress sessions from all around the world! I will be reporting the total participation during a live report to conclude our Congress on Sunday – let us challenge ourselves to break last year’s records for involvement from members everywhere. Remind others that they may join us—no registration is necessary, and they can simply tune into the Congress Livestream. It’s a great way to introduce that hesitant family member to the purpose of our work – witnessing the impact of our Society during Congress often hooks them!

Today’s Announcements:
1. We have created a number of videos that can be used for chapter programs or promotional purposes – you can find them here. In particular, allow me to recognize the winners of this year’s American Heritage Committee contest winners – whose work never fails to astound me.
2. It is unfortunate that we are unable to present the reports of every one of our National Chairs due to time/space limitations during our day and evening sessions. However, each has recorded a video report or PowerPoint to inform you of the highlights of her committee’s achievements during the last year. You may find them here. These make great programs for chapters or easy refreshers on the work of our 40 vibrant committees.
