This year at the Virtual 130th Continental Congress, Delegates will elect seven Vice Presidents General and one Honorary Vice President General. This blog explains the qualifications for each position and introduces you to the women who seek to fill them. Each year at Continental Congress, seven new Vice Presidents General are elected for a term of three years. In order to qualify for the office of Vice President General, each candidate must have served as State Regent and must be endorsed by ballot vote of the state conference where she is a member. All necessary signed and verified forms must be received in the Office of the Recording Secretary General by the designated due date. A drawing is normally held in the Office of the Recording Secretary General for placement on the official ballot; due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, this year’s drawing was conducted in the home of the Recording Secretary General.
A total of 21 Vice Presidents General serve on the National Board of Management. In addition to attending all National Board Meetings and events, the Vice Presidents General are responsible for the judging of the four national Founders Medals administered by the office of the Reporter General. Many Vice Presidents General serve as National Chairs, Vice Chairs or committee members. They can also be a great wealth of knowledge for their current State Regent.

Candidates for the office of Honorary Vice President General must have previously held the office of Vice President General. Unlike the 21 Vice Presidents General who serve for a three-year term, Honorary Vice Presidents General serve for life in recognition of their valuable service to the National Society. Only 13 Honorary Vice Presidents General may serve at one time, and no two may be members from the same state. Many serve as National Chairs, Vice Chairs or committee members, but also as advisors to the President General and the Executive Board.
When vacancies in the office occur, a qualifying candidate who seeks to serve must notify the Office of the Recording Secretary General of her intentions to be nominated. This year, two candidates are running for the office of Honorary Vice President General. Below, please find their names and links to their resumes on the National website.
