We all know that adding primary source records to the National Society’s database helps to provide the important documentation that enables prospective members to document their lineage for membership. Founded in 1913, the Genealogical Records Committee’s purpose is to collect and index unpublished records of a genealogical nature and prepare them in the proper format for placement in the DAR Library. Due in large part to this committee’s efforts, the DAR Library is recognized as one of the finest genealogical repositories in the world.
Now, there is a new way to be recognized for future volunteerism that adds those critically important primary source records to our GRS database: a beautiful new GRC pin that may be worn on the official DAR ribbon to demonstrate support for this important committee and its vital work. The pin will be available at the DAR Insignia Store later in 2021, but GRC volunteers may start work toward earning the necessary credit as of January 1, 2021. It is earned through the first 100 pages submitted and may ultimately be complemented by up to five companion bars for additional levels of achievement.
