Volunteer with the Genealogical Records Committee!

Have you been considering volunteering for the Genealogical Records Committee project? Not sure what it involves, or how to get started? Or has it been a long time since your last foray? We have you covered! The GRC has a brand new webinar that will take you step-by-step through the process of collecting primary records to submitting them to the DAR Library.

Thanks to the hard work of the committee, both of our GRC reference manuals have also been updated in 2020 and are available on our GRC Committee Page, the Librarian General’s forms page and in the GRC section of the NIP.  They can answer any of the more detailed questions you might have that are not covered in the webinar. The “New Children of Patriots Challenge” asks members to locate wills and probate records of Patriots so that we can discover additional children not already listed in the Genealogical Research System and GRC. This is an opportunity to review the research on your own Patriot ancestors to be sure that all of their descendants have been documented.

Remember: One new document might make the difference in a new membership Application, a new Supplemental Application -- or even your own brick wall! And every new document will make our DAR Library even better than it is already.
