We make still more history today when the DAR Insignia Store opens for business online at 9:00 a.m. ET. As we have mentioned previously, pandemic-related closures have regrettably impacted our inventory and delivery capabilities. But persevere we shall – and with your continued patience, begin fulfilling orders just as soon as we are able. With your support, I know this will be a success and, furthermore, one that will aid the future work of our Society immensely.
Tonight, we will enjoy hearing the accomplishments of our members around the world via the work of our State Regents. I never fail to be inspired by these reports – and I often immediately begin plotting how to “steal” the very best of their ideas for new projects and initiatives! I hereby grant you permission to do the same!
An equally important part of this evening’s ceremony will be recognizing our 2020 Outstanding Junior Members. The Outstanding Junior Contest recognizes members who are 35 years old or younger who devote themselves to DAR with service that is above and beyond, while also balancing the demands of families, homes, careers and other civic and religious service. These women are outstanding, indeed.
Make sure to join us tonight at 7 p.m. ET on Congress Online YouTube livestream.
Meanwhile, I am looking forward to the virtual DAR School Luncheon this afternoon, when we will hear from the students and faculty of the DAR schools to learn more about their important work. Later today we will also have a Celebration of DAR Philanthropy, where we will recognize our generous supporters and their contributions to our National Society. Donors are encouraged to visit the virtual photo booth to have a photo taken; add their favorite 1776 D Street background; and then affix their donor ribbon stickers for uploading to social media! Learn more here: www.dar.org/sellingsunshine. How fun!
