Today's DAR
It is an annual tradition each June: thousands of DAR members, including me, pack our bags and travel to Washington, D.C., for Continental Congress -- and the opportunity to conduct our business, enjoy our beautiful complex and reconnect with friends. While we won’t be packing to gather in person this summer, the National Development Committee, as well as our dedicated staff, still want to show our gratitude for your countless acts of support throughout the past year – so please plan now to take part in our special digital events and benefits for donors during next week’s historic Virtual 129th Continual Congress. Be sure to:
- “Pick Up” your Donor Ribbons at the Virtual Photo Booth opening Sunday, June 21. Here you will be able to “visit” 1776 D Street NW, gather your virtual ribbons and even snap a picture in the photobooth. You can use this picture on your social media, as a memento of this historic occasion and to post on the Congress Photo Booth gallery wall.
- “Join” us for A Celebration of DAR Philanthropy on Friday, June 26, for an inspiring celebration of all that donors do to support DAR. This special event will include greetings from President General Denise Doring VanBuren. There will also be entertaining stories about unique gifts to our collections and updates on projects that are being completed because of your contributions. This remarkable evening will be capped off by Daughters, just like you, sharing why personal philanthropy is meaningful to them.
- “Volunteer” to help Sell Sunshine. You can make a difference by assisting the DAR to raise $60,000 to restore a portion of the iconic Lay Light in DAR Constitution Hall. The Lay Light was a central feature of the original design and allowed sunlight to fill the Hall until it was covered in 1954. Your gifts of support and modern LED lighting technology will help the light to shine in DAR Constitution Hall once again.
- “Step” into the spotlight. Benefactor and Patriot Donors to the President General’s project, DAR Constitution Hall: The Next Act, will be recognized during the Saturday Afternoon Business Session on June 27, 2020, tune in on the Congress Online YouTube Livestream.
- “Visit” the Development Team! Please stop by the virtual office by making a reservation here to make a gift or ask a question, and one of our happy and helpful team members will be able to assist you.
- Download your donor history – you may be closer than you think to achieving the next level of recognition in the Next Act campaign or other DAR recognition program. Follow simple directions found here.
The good works of DAR do not happen without the support of thousands of women who are dedicated to our important mission.
