We are excited to share that the National Society’s Genealogical Education Programs (GEP) have switched to a new and improved platform to make the GEP easier to use and eliminate some of the technical issues and glitches of the past platform. We are very excited to be sharing this new platform with you: https://gep.bridgeapp.com/.
You will now be able to take the GEP on your cellphone or tablet, as well as on a laptop or desktop computer. You will no longer need to download and run Adobe Flash Player, as this version of the GEP will be run on HTML5; the lessons and quizzes will open in your browser without having to download an additional software.
If you have not yet taken a GEP course, we encourage you to do so! The GEP courses provide the most complete and up-to-date information on the proper completion and documentation standards required by the DAR for the verification of Applications. The goal of the GEP is to equip individuals with the skills to prepare Applications and Supplemental Applications that can be verified as quickly and efficiently as possible by the staff of the Office of the Registrar General while still meeting the DAR’s current genealogical standards. The courses are available to all DAR members and are great for those who are wanting to learn more about completing membership Applications.
The GEP is comprised of three courses: Course 1 – Introduction to Genealogy Research for DAR Applications; Course 2 – Applying Genealogy Research Techniques to DAR Applications; and Course 3 – Advanced Techniques for Resolving Problems with Lineage or Service on DAR Records. There is also a special GEP course on DNA and a GEP Registrar Training Course, for current and incoming Registrars.
If you are actively enrolled in a GEP course you have received an email with more information about updating your account for the new platform. If you did not receive this email, contact us at [email protected].
We are very excited about this new platform and we hope it makes a much more streamlined and user-friendly experience for those taking the courses! Learn more about the GEP and how to sign up here: www.dar.org/GEP
