The DAR Insignia Store Updates

Denise Doring VanBuren, President General

I am delighted to report that The DAR Insignia Store is on schedule for launch at Continental Congress 2020! The National Society has continued to hit every milestone of its action plan to sell DAR Insignia directly to members. Jewelry-quality insignia pins have been ordered from American manufacturers and are being produced here in the USA for NSDAR. Space has been renovated for our e-commerce store at DAR headquarters and key staff have moved in. Sales-related automation is currently being tested and readied for deployment. And, we are assembling an enthusiastic team of member Insignia Volunteers to serve as ambassadors for DAR Insignia.

I am particularly excited because the first insignia pins have begun to arrive at headquarters. I cannot wait until you can see—and purchase—the beautiful limited-edition inaugural DAR insignia pins, including the VanBuren President General’s Project pin!

The DAR Insignia Store will launch on Tuesday, June 23, 2020, at Continental Congress and will be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday of that week. That is one extra day of insignia shopping than was available in the past! The Congress DAR Insignia Store will be located in Constitution Hall in the space formerly occupied by Hamilton Insignia. Not coming to Congress?  The DAR Insignia Store will open for online, telephone, and mail orders on Monday, July 6. We expect our week at Congress to be extremely busy, and we want to ensure that members who cannot buy insignia at Congress receive the same level of outstanding customer service as those who buy at Congress.

We have prepared the answers to some frequently asked questions in a Members’ Announcement to answer some of the most common inquiries we have received about this exciting new venture.

The last day to order DAR Insignia from Hamilton Insignia is February 28, 2020. No new DAR Insignia will be sold between February 29 and Continental Congress; however, the Office of the Organizing Secretary General has a limited supply of used pins for sale. Contact that office at [email protected] for a list of available pins. In the meantime, our DAR Insignia Task Force will be hard at work to ensure a successful launch. I know that The DAR Insignia Store will be worth the wait, as we will be offering not only the inaugural DAR insignia but also a series of special commemorative pins to recognize important events leading to America’s 250th birthday, such as a stunning America 250! pin. Stay tuned to the DAR Members’ Website as the exciting launch day approaches. And remember, the net proceeds from your purchases from The DAR Insignia Store will directly support the DAR mission!
