Reflections from the Organizing Secretary General

It seems like only yesterday that I was installed as Organizing Secretary General (OSG). These three years have passed so quickly.

During that time, I have been blessed to have the opportunity to work with the outstanding, capable staff of the OSG office at DAR headquarters. We claim that we are one of the busiest offices--if not the busiest—in the building.  Responsibilities of the office include maintaining membership information, processing dues, magazine subscriptions, chapter charters, organizing chapters, Continental Congress credentials, and processing Insignia and pin requests.  One of our biggest accomplishments was adding the option of paying chapter dues online in 2018.  Kudos to all of you who have embraced this new feature!

But perhaps my fondest memory came from February 2018 when it was my turn to host the formal executive luncheon. During our three year term of office, each officer is responsible for hosting one of these luncheons, during which we get to choose the theme, menu, decorations, and favors.    For my special event, I chose the theme, “Tennessee love stories, just a few.”  I told stories of love between several Tennessee couples, such as Andrew and Rachel Jackson, and ended the program by recounting my own love story with my beloved late husband Geoff.  Though I think the ladies liked it, of course the dessert of fudge pie topped with peppermint ice cream was a big hit too!  

I have truly loved the times I have spent with each executive--what a great group of gals!!  But most of all, I will always be grateful to our lovely President General, Ann Dillon, for asking me to serve on her slate.
