With 2018 coming to an end, I thought it would be interesting to take look back at all DAR has accomplished this year. As I was putting together this list, it’s amazing to think that this is just what has been done on our National level, it doesn’t include all of the incredible work DAR members are doing in their states and chapters every day. - DAR members participated in the 4th annual National DAR Day of Service
- The U.S. Semiquincentennial Commission held their first official meeting
- The NSDAR Archives shared their knowledge with other Archivists
- Revolutionary War heroine Margaret Corbin’s story developed a new chapter
- The DAR Library continues to have engaging genealogy lectures throughout the year
- The National Society began accepting online payments for Chapter Dues
- The DAR Museum Gallery renovations were completed and the gallery reopened
- DAR Headquarters hosted a Wikipedia editing workshop
- The Genealogy Education Programs were updated
- Kansas Daughters renovated the Kansas Chapel
- The DAR Museum loaned an object to the Supreme Court
- DAR Members participated in a Caribbean cruise
- DAR Headquarters hosted the second annual DAR Museum World’s Fair
- The O’Byrne Gallery floor was renovated thanks to a generous donation from the Florida Daughters
- DAR introduced the DAR Pathway of the Patriots
- The Constitution Hall Stage restoration was unveiled
- DAR commemorated the 100th anniversary of the end of World War I
- New book scanners were added to the DAR Library
- The 127th Congress was a huge success
- DAR Genealogists traveled to the FGS Conference
- In addition to these accomplishments, DAR also renovated the C.A.R. Museum space back to the original John Russell Pope design, re-landscaped the entire DAR Headquarters grounds, and initiated a three month project to completely upgrade the aging Headquarters security system.
