You can join the exciting “Relatives at DAR” experience, please follow the steps below, opt in and get connected to the FamilySearch Family Tree today. This experience is completely optional and free, and getting started is easy.
- Sign into your FamilySearch account or create a free FamilySearch account.
- Click this link to Join the Relatives at DAR experience.
- Download the FamilySearch Family Tree app, so you can have this experience with you wherever you are during Continental Congress.
- Connect to the FamilySearch Family Tree. This can typically be done by extending your tree to the first deceased person on each family line. Once connected, you can discover what others have shared about your common ancestry and determine family relationships with others who are connected to the tree. Learn more about extending your tree and how Relatives at DAR works.
When joining and opting into this experience, you can determine what information to share with others. All information you enter for other living individuals—including names, dates, and places—is only viewable to you and is not shared with others. I am so excited to see all of the family connections we will make!
Today I’ll stop by and say hello to my friends at the 50-Year Club, Patriotism Luncheon and Heritage Club Luncheon. For a midday pick-me-up, I’m looking forward to visiting with my home state at the Texas Tea.
You can join the Office of the Historian General for a history book giveaway during Continental Congress! Stop by the President General’s Assembly Room on the 2nd floor of the Administration Building starting today. The books cover topics such as early American history, including biographies of George Washington and other leaders of the American Revolution. The book giveaway is free, but members will have the option to give a donation to help support our DAR Department of Archives and History.
While you are at Headquarters, don’t miss the DAR Period rooms, located throughout Memorial Continental Hall. Check the schedule to find out when each room will be hosting its open house for a chance to meet and learn from some of the knowledgeable women from each state. The President General’s Reception Room will also be open for a rare viewing today from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Stop by and say hello!
If you cannot be with us this evening in Washington, D.C., please participate in Congress virtually, where you can view the livestream of the evening ceremonies and business sessions on the Congress Website, and read the daily Congress Herald. Also, follow along with Continental Congress social media via Facebook and Instagram.
I hope you all have a great day, and I look forward to seeing you (live or online!) at Opening Night!
