Enhancing the DAR Online Shopping Experience

Kathryn West, Corresponding Secretary General

It’s a joy to share that exciting things are happening to improve your DAR Store shopping experience, both online and in person.

Let’s start with the website. We today launched a new and improved website for the DAR Store and DAR Museum Shop – making your shopping experience more intuitive, attractive and expeditious. It is also far more efficient behind the scenes. Previously, orders placed online had to be manually re-entered by staff into another platform before they could be fulfilled. With the launch of the new ecommerce platform earlier today, orders placed online are now fully integrated with a new point-of-sale system, eliminating hours of redundant work each day and helping to improve the accuracy of your order.

Please visit the DAR Store and DAR Museum Shop online at: https://shop.dar.org/ to see the exciting new approach to online sales, including the improved organization of products in order to enhance site navigation. For example, the Chapter Supplies tab now contains three sub-sections: Chapter Essentials, Genealogy and Stationery. The Committee Awards and Supplies category is further arranged by committee, such as American History, Constitution Week and National Defense in order to help your chapter committee chair find just what she needs to recognize an outstanding individual.  We’ve also launched a Novelties and Gifts section that is full of great items and even includes a subsection for quality items that are $15 or less. Additionally, you can now order items from the DAR Museum Shop online, whereas previously these items had to be ordered over the phone.

And in the weeks ahead, the DAR Store team will be upgrading our product photographs to further enhance your shopping experience.  We’re also working behind the scenes to soon offer you the opportunity to purchase a gift certificate for those members who just can’t get enough of our fabulous products!

But wait, there’s more!

The physical DAR Store will soon be moving to a new location, directly across from the elevator on the lower level of the Administration Building.  The space is being readied and the move will take place in a few short weeks. We will soon be immediately adjacent to the Mailroom, which will make our shipping operations even more efficient.  I look forward to welcoming you to this new location and “wowing” you with a retail approach that will more closely resemble a traditional shopping experience.  Special appreciation is expressed to the Office of the Registrar General for working with us in this transition, as Data Entry will now be located in the site we have occupied.

Thank you for your patience as we launch our systems and make the big move. We will certainly be excited to welcome you to Congress! Our DAR Store team stands ready to meet all your shopping needs, and we’re delighted that these service improvements will make your purchases and shopping all the more enjoyable.
