North Dakota State Visit

Anne Muir, North Dakota State Regent

I recently enjoyed seeing the North Dakota Daughters for their 115th state conference. North Dakota is known as the “Peace Garden State,” which shined true during my weekend visit. The pace of this weekend was as steady as North Dakota’s rolling grasslands, filled with service and fellowship. I would like to thank North Dakota State Regent Anne Muir for providing my transportation and being such a great host. I would also like to thank my Page Amanda Carr for assisting me this weekend. I can’t wait to see the North Dakota Daughters for our continued fun at Congress in a few weeks!

-Pamela Wright, President General

North Dakota was honored on the weekend of May 31st to entertain our President General, Pamela Wright, at the state capital.  Minishoshe-Mandan Chapter of Bismarck hosted the 115th North Dakota State Conference.  The theme, Sparkle on the Prairie, embraced the natural beauty of the grasslands.

Friday night was an open invitation to all the Daughters gathering for the festivities.  The social reunited old acquaintances and introduced our newest members while the casual ambiance allowed everyone an opportunity to meet Mrs. Wright before the official meeting.

Saturday morning was busy with meetings for the Executive Board, Cameo Club, and State Officers Club.  Our membership arrived to find chapter displays of activities, silent auction items, and an Insignia Pop-Up.  Community Service Activities included Activity Bags for the VA hospital, Personal Comfort bags for the homeless, and a Library Donation drive for a local tribal school that lost 80% of its books due to burst water pipes.  Everyone was encouraged to enjoy a painting session.  Small canvases of prairie flowers were created.

The Development Office’s Liz Pitts was our hostess for the afternoon tea.  The Daughters enjoyed a light fare of charcuterie and a delicious almond tart.  The ladies enjoyed the opportunity to engage in small talk with Mrs. Wright and share ideas.

A reception line and color guard initiated the evening’s event.  Mrs. Wright’s speech was well received by all in attendance, and she presented banquet door prizes to three very lucky ladies.  Mrs. Wright also was presented with three donations: State Officers Club, Cameo Club, and Membership supporting the President General’s project.  As a remembrance token of Mrs. Wright’s visit, she was presented with a replica charm of the state Prairie Rose pin.

We made lots of new memories and stories to be shared for the next time we meet in friendship while we continue our work to serve America.
