We were excited to welcome the DAR Insignia Pop-Up Store to spread more DAR Bling! It was an honor to host the Pennsylvania Cable Network to our Fall Meeting. They partnered with us to produce and air an episode of "Saving History,” featuring our state project. The State Society has committed to the preservation and restoration of Old Sweds Cemetery, Chester, Pennsylvania. This is the final resting place of John Morton, a Signer of the Declaration of Independence. His vote tipped the Pennsylvania delegation and the final vote toward independence. He is the only Signer from Pennsylvania buried in a site that has been neglected for generations. PSSDAR has committed to changing that designation. The work started with ground penetrating radar to identify the graves and headstones that could be saved. Forty headstones have been raised, with sixty more identified to be replaced in the upright position. We hosted a DAR Day of Service on October 11th at the cemetery to learn and participate, firsthand in our project.
The fabulous Fall Meeting concluded by recognizing our DAR Leadership Training graduates, past and present Nurses in honor of the 125th Anniversary of the Amry Nurse Corps, and the chapters who have received 100% participation in the President General’s Project. Everyone left reenergized in our DAR ties of Service and Friendship and Love of Service to God, Home, and Country!
