New Genealogy Guidelines & Genealogy Website Now Available

Mary Frisch, Registrar General

The Office of the Registrar General is pleased to announce that the revised Genealogy Guidelines are now available on the Members’ Section of the DAR Website.  The revised Guidelines will now be in three separate documents:  Part One: Guide For Chapter Registrars; Part Two: Completing the Application and Proving Lineage; and Part Three: Service.

Many of the revisions include procedures or processes that have been in place since 2014, but not updated in the original Genealogy Guidelines.  In addition, current procedures are clarified, to include visual and more complete written examples.

These other Genealogy forms were also updated:  RGG-1006 Application Checklist; RGG-1007 Supplemental Application Checklist; and new forms RGG-8000 DAR Application Sample #1, RGG-8001 DAR Application Sample #2, and RGG-8002 Application Formatting Reference Sheet, which will replace the application samples currently on the website and the Genie Style Worksheet.

The Office of the Registrar General has also re-designed the Genealogy section of the Members’ Website.  This new streamlined website allows quick and easy access to the areas in which you are most interested.  Please be sure to visit each new webpage for these exciting updates!

The revision to the Genealogy Guidelines and the Genealogy section will be one of the topics of discussion at the Registrar General’s Forum, at Continental Congress on Wednesday, June 26, 2019 from 9 am – 11 am. This presentation will be recorded and made available on the Members’ Website.
