Wrapping Up a Wonderful 126th Continental Congress

National Defense Night was a truly moving ceremony. Our speakers gave such thoughtful and meaningful remarks and each of our award winners were more than worthy of their awards. National Defense Night is always one of my favorite evenings.  I feel privileged to stand in our beautiful auditorium singing the National Anthem on the night we dedicate to honoring our nation’s military. It was amazing to see how touched General Robinson was by the honor of receiving the Margaret Cochran Corbin Award. She was a fantastic keynote speaker and is a true patriot.

Last night we debuted a video about DAR members volunteer support during WWI based on the Americana exhibit, "Women of Resilience: DAR Service in WWI." You can now see the video here: www.dar.org/WomenofResilience.

This morning following the Memorial Service we will have the Installation Ceremony for the new State Regents and the newly elected Vice Presidents General.

Congratulations to these newest members of the National Board of Management!

Following the Installation Ceremony the National Board of Management members will proceed to the Banquet Hall where we will enjoy a luncheon served by the tireless members of the Property Beautification and Hospitality Committee.  A meeting of the new National Board will follow where we will begin another year of DAR work.

I enjoyed the entire week of Continental Congress.  It was busy and crazy, fun and moving.  There is no way to describe the experience to anyone who has never been, but for me it expands my vision of this amazing organization.  I hope everyone attending found the week educational, motivating and fun, and that you are taking home some great ideas, a renewed sense of purpose and vision.

Through the week’s blogs, the live streams of the sessions, photos and the daily Congress Herald we have tried to make all of our members a part of the proceedings.  If you were unable to attend and experienced Congress from home, I hope you can join us next year for the 127th Continental Congress, June 20-24, 2018!  We will begin planning right after the Fourth of July.

Thank you all for making this Continental Congress so wonderful!
