Introducing Your Executive Officers

Our National Society progresses through the volunteer leadership provided by 12 women, who sacrifice time away from home, careers and families in order to serve as Executive Officers for a term of three years. I am immensely proud of – and grateful to! – the 11 women who have joined me on this three-year journey for giving so much of themselves for the betterment of NSDAR.

Therefore, I’m delighted to share that in the weeks to come, each of these outstanding women will submit a short blog to share some of her own story. I hope that you will take time to learn more about who they are, what responsibilities they manage and why they have chosen to devote so much of their time and talent to our beloved Society.  I also hope that you will be inspired by their example and encouraged by their enthusiasm for our important work. They are capable, experienced and energetic – and I know that you will enjoy learning more about them.

I would also like thank all of the new National Chairs who have assumed leadership of our more than 40 active committees. It is through the work of these committees that Daughters find so much fulfillment as members of our premiere women’s service organization. If you have not yet taken time to review their National Information Packet overview or visited their committee webpages, please take some time to do so. I am confident that you will feel the excitement of our work and that you will surely find several committee themes that will be an excellent fit for your chapter and community.

I often use the metaphor that DAR succeeds because it is as perfectly balanced as a three-legged stool. One leg is our capable staff that executes the day-to-day business of our Society at our headquarters. The second leg is outstanding and inspiring leadership on the national, state and local levels. And the final leg of our sturdy stool is the membership – strong, smart, active women who love our nation and are devoted to the ideals of our Society. Thank you for the time, treasure and talent that you invest in our National Society. Together, we make an astounding difference year after year in service to God, Home and Country.
