Enter Your 2014 Celebrate America! Hours by February 1!

LeAnn Turbyfill, National Chair, Celebrate America! Committee

3,000,000 hours and counting!!  If you have been watching the Celebrate America! Online Ticker, you will have noticed this ever increasing number!  DAR members are serving their communities and we love hearing stories and seeing photos from your wonderful volunteer projects – keep up the great work! Each day we get a little closer to our 10 million hour goal for the Young Administration!

As you know, this year DAR is celebrating its 125th anniversary! And as part of the celebration Mrs. Young is encouraging chapters to take on special service projects in honor of the anniversary throughout the year and to also participate in the National DAR Day of Service on October 11, 2015. I hope all chapters will take on this challenge, and remember these service projects will also count toward your Celebrate America! service hours. Be sure to enter them in the Online Tally as well!

It is not too late to enter your 2014 hours of service in the Online Tally – but the deadline is looming soon! Members should enter all 2014 Celebrate America! community service hours via the Online Tally by February 1, 2015. This deadline coincides with end of year chapter reporting and allows an extended time period for members to enter their 2014 activities. Please enter all 2014 service hours online by this February 1 deadline so that we may account for all Celebrate America! activities taking place throughout the year.

A few quick tips for entering service hours:

  • Repetitive service hours can be logged as one entry.  Just choose a date, enter the hours (up to a max of 500 hours), and add a note of explanation in the text box.
  • For those members unable to enter hours in the Online Tally, another member can do the entry.  Just remember to click the “log out” button after completing each member’s entry.

February 1 is also the deadline for the Chapter Master Report (CMR).  Be sure to add your chapter’s total number of 2014 Celebrate America! hours to your Chapter Master Report.  Utilize the special link on the committee Chapter Master Report page to see your chapter’s total number of logged service hours.  Add that amount to any service hours for the chapter that were not entered online previously. Then enter that final total number of hours on the Celebrate America! Committee page of the Chapter Master Report.

Members are welcome to begin entering 2015 Celebrate America! hours of service at this time. The 2015 hours will be tallied separately from the 2014 entries and will be displayed later.

Remember to send your photos and stories of your service projects to [email protected] and for more information about Celebrate America!, visit the committee page.

I hope all members will Celebrate America! in 2015 by identifying new service projects that inspires them!
